Mosely Wins Third Straight in SAS Super Stocks

Mosely Wins Third Straight in SAS Super Stocks

By Mark Chisum

Corbitt Mosely has been on a tear at South Alabama Speedway recently. Saturday night, he won his third consecutive Super Stock Feature.

Brian Mosely led the field, combined Super Stocks and SuperTrucks, to the green and led the first ten laps. Corbitt started tenth, but steadily made his way through the field, moving into second on lap seven. On lap 11, he moved inside of his son to take the lead. Mosely had to get through two restarts late in the race, but each time, he was able to nail the restarts and pull away from Brian. Corbitt led Brian to the checkers to take another win. Steven Davis was third, the highest finishing truck. Cameron Henderson was fourth, followed by Brandon Burks.

Heath Mills returned to action and took the win in the Modified Feature. Teammate Chris Salter held the lead for the first 22 laps. Salter enjoyed a sizable lead while Mills was making his way through the field from the sixth starting spot. Mills ate into Salter’s lead, and caught the leader with just a few laps remaining. Heading into turn three on lap 23, Mills made his move, diving inside of Salter. There was contact, but both continued through the turn with Mills emerging from turn four with the lead. Mills led the final three laps to take the win over Salter. Lance Blacker was third, followed by Todd Blackburn and Garrett Richardson.

Justin Killian picked up his first win in the Street Stock Feature. Kin led all 25 laps, but had to hold off Dwayne Maloy and Travis Slawson to take the win. Maloy enjoyed his best finish in a Street Stock, while Slawson had a good run in a recently purchased car, a replacement for his regular ride which was heavily damaged June 4. Daniel Davis was fourth with Gary Davis fifth.

In the Roadrunner Feature, Jason Kendrick took the lead on lap seven and sped away with the win. Charles Gardner grabbed the early lead from the pole and led the first six laps before Kendrick sped by. John Singletary got past Gardner one lap later and chased Kendrick the rest of the way, but had to settle for second. Gardner finished third with Tim Peters fourth and Michael Hurst fifth.

Joseph Chandler took the lead on lap nine and held off Tim Richardson to take another win in the Coyote Feature. Anthony Johnson led the first lap with Stephen Magwood leading the second time around. Hunter Worley started fifth, but took the lead on lap three, holding the top spot for six laps before Chandler came to the front. Chandler led the rest of the way with Richardson on his bumper. Worley was third with Ralph Sanders fourth and Magwood fifth.

After having mechanical problems in the last race, Jack Whittle returned to the front of the CupLite Feature. Adam Salter led the first 16 laps before Whittle moved to front. Whittle led the final nien laps to take the win. Salter was second with Dylan Northey third, Cory Tillman fourth, and Karl Williams fifth.

Randy Henderson used the outside to come from the 13th starting spot and win the Mini Sportsman Feature. Johnny Childree led the first two laps with Benjamin Henderson taking the lead for three laps. Randy Henderson ran on the outside and had a clear path to the front and he took the lead on the sixth circuit. Henderson then cruised home with the win. Benjamin Henderson was second. Kim Pearson came back from a lap two spin to finish third. Dylan Wolfe and Jack Lisenby rounded out the top five.

South Alabama Speedway will not be racing the next two weekends, however, the track will not be completely quiet. On June 25, the track will be hosting a gospel singing, featuring the Giles Family. Also scheduled to perform are The Thompson’s and The Benton Brothers & Co. Brother Eddie Barton will also speak. Arcing action will continue on July 9 with the Southern Super Series headlining the night. Also scheduled are feature races for the Super Stock, Street Stock, Roadrunner, Coyote, and Mini Sportsman classes.
